Ged has enjoyed strong careers with both British Telecom (UK) and Cable & Wireless (UK, Europe and USA) over a period of 33 years. He has been successful in a number of varied and challenging roles including Customer Line and Apparatus Repair, Customer Access Planner (microwave radio and fibre optic), Sales Technical Support Manager, Y2K Helpdesk Manager (Europe), Service Delivery Manager, Project Manager, Chief of Staff, Business Metrics Director (C&W Global Networks).
During this period Ged gained almost 20 years ‘hands-on’ people management experience.
More recently he has been involved in contract work in the Middle East and SE Asia. The main thrust of this activity has been the Design and Delivery of ‘customised’ plus ‘off the shelf’ Telecoms Training Events for Field Technicians, Supervisors and other Professionals.
The ‘customised’ events for active Broadband (POTS, ADSL, VDSL, FTTH, Internet) Technicians & Supervisors were highly practical and involved field coaching and final assessment.
The ‘off the shelf’ classroom courses are a series of highly topical subjects including: The ABCs of Telecoms, Overview of 2G/3G/4G and Future Mobile Technologies, Delivering Customer Service Excellence in a Connected Age, Principles of ADSL, Leadership Essentials, Overview of FTTH GPON, ICTs and Smart Cities
He holds a Full Telecommunications Certificate and is an Associate of CGLI, a Higher National Certificate in Business Studies as well as a number of selected Modules with the UK Open University (Managing Client Relationships, Living in an ICT Connected World, The Effective Manager, Finance for non-Financial Managers).
