Jonathan is an experienced telecoms professional, with a wide ranging portfolio of technical and commercial experience with fixed, mobile and submarine operators, encompassing network design and audit, procurement, infrastructure deployment, project and contract management. He has a background in core transmission network design (SDH/DWDM/IP/MPLS) and fibre access (FTTx/HFC) with BT.
He is currently technical lead with the launch team at Awasr, planning and implementing the third FTTH operator in Oman, due to be launched in 2016. Alpha trials now successfully underway. Also supporting a major RFP with BellTel in the Phllippines, a new mobile operator entrant, with 2G/4G nationwide rollout, due for launch in 2016.
Jonathan has successfully completed multiple consultancy technical and procurement projects with BT, Vodafone, Ooredoo, Level 3, Celtel and Milicom, including core/access network design, defining broadband strategy, NGN transformation, wholesale initiatives, 2G/3G/LTE upgrades, spectrum refarming, core network QoS implementation, copper/fibre access technologies (ADSL/VDSL/GPON/HFC).
He holds a PhD from Cambridge University and is a Member of the Institute of Physics
